Adding green foliage to your house decor can bring several benefits to your life and make it look fresh, trendy, and cozy. For example, did you know that plants can help you breath better, reduce your stress, improve your memory and heal you? I think we all have heard these eventually in a moment of our lives but is always good to refresh it right? Plus, they make any space look 100 times better!
But going back to what this post is about. Below you will find 7 gorgeous ways to add greenery to your spaces. This is a trend that is on right now and I couldn’t enjoy it more. Because I am from a country in South America, my every day involved beautiful landscapes with lots of tropical plants and animals, but then I came to live in Canada and now I’m surrounded with a completely different scenario. Beautiful deep pine forests, incredible mountain views, and clear water lakes. Ok, I don’t complain (maybe just in March that I’m more than done with all the snow). But overall, the views here in BC are absolutely breathtaking!
So yes, I like this trend very much, all the eucalyptus branches, palm trees, tropical plants, and leaves, they make me feel more at home in my new home.
Now that all of these has been said, let’s go to what we are here, the design tips!
Here they start:
USE FRONDS OR BRANCHES
Plants have been since the beginning of times a great source of decoration for indoor spaces. But sometimes if you are not the best plant taker just thinking of taking care of a live plant can seem like the worst idea ever (trust me I understand!) So in those cases, branches and fronds are the way to go! They not just bring simplicity, they also bring great impact.
If you got the space, you can use small indoor plants or branches to create a refreshing and natural ambiance in your bedroom.
USE THEM ON A BENCH
Adding indoor plants to your home using a bench as the base for them is a great idea to add some life, color, and warmth to an empty wall or a hall. You can mix them up to get a more interesting and lively look. Don’t forget to play with the size of them and the texture of their leaves. Texture is everything!
ADD THEM TO YOUR CORNERS
Do you have some empty corners in your house and don’t know what to do with them? Well, put some plants on them! You can just place Snake Plant or Palm Tree behind a chair or beside your sofa or sectional. One thing to remember is to choose a larger size to fully occupy the whole space/corner. If you decide to go with smaller plants on the corners, a good trick is to put some art pieces on the wall to occupy the space above it. This will make the room look closer and larger without making it feel overcrowded.
ADD THEM AS A CENTERPIECE
One of the oldest but most effective ways to use greenery in your homes is to add them as focal points on top of dining and coffee tables. Especially because at the end of a long cold winter, there is nothing that will make you feel that spring is finally here like a fresh bunch of green leaves and colorful flowers.
And wait, I just have to share this picture. This centerpiece on the entry hall of this house is totally #GOALS!
ADD THEM TO YOUR BUILT IN WALLS OR SHELVES
We have already said that plants provide more than a decorative touch to the indoor environment. The simple presence of flora in a room brings people closer, helps them relax, and creates an ideal environment for cooperation and collaboration. All of these aspects are very beneficial for spaces like a living room or family room, which is where you will most commonly find built-ins and shelves.
ADD THEM TO YOUR KITCHEN
Integrating plants into your kitchen will give a more fresh and inviting look to this space than ever before. Yes, we all know that it is great to have some herbs around at the moment of cooking or favorite dish for dinner, but also adding bigger and more “exotic” plants to the area will give you a trendy and modern approach.
USE THEM ON A CART
Now, greenery on carts? Yes! Isn’t this such a great idea? I love how with a cart you can show your taste on drinks or decor all at the same time! And if the cart has wheeks, well that is obviously a bonus! Sometimes carts are filled with crystal vases, glasses which can make them seem cold mini spaces but by adding some plants or flowers to them it will make them appear warm and colorful.
